Change and the South Downs Way

The South Downs Way is my go to place to run. I start at the Queen Elizabeth Country Park and then run eastwards and back. On almost every run I stop to take a picture of this tree. It is on a lovely downhill stretch on a quiet road approximately 3 miles in. Over the years this tree has come to symbolise change to me. I have seen it during all weathers and all times of year. It is the same tree but it is radically different. I think it is a feature of autistic minds that we can be stuck in the sameness of things and cannot imagine things changing. This can be a real negative when stuck in negative thoughts and can lead to hopelessness. Running the South Downs Way and passing my tree helps me remember that nothing is forever.
